Here is a useful feature that will help you find the hospital that treats your personal health problem in the best way possible. This is a medicaid/medicare postive site , so if you are on either program , this should be especially great for you !

Sometimes finding out how to help your own health situation means a dig into the past . Your family history of health can mean a big difference in the way you are treated for your health challenges.

Go here to build a family health tree so that you can know where to start with your own health:

This is a medicine interation program . I found at least 3 of my meds have serious interactions and I am going to make an appointment with my doctor.

 GENERAL RESEARCH-health and disabilities

Start here if you are just beginning your research . These research links are from ' the best of the net ' type sources . I went to about 15-20 different sources and chose the sites recommended the most often.

Here is a HUGE !!! search page for health and disability research . I think this is the largest one that I have found ,and the most extensive , covering many different subjects.

If you are looking for a condition that is rare , or not well known , this is a good page for that too.

This is the site of the HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOLS information page for consumers .

The site talks about mental health , but the  SELF-HELP SOURCEBOOK has links to everything , not just mental health information.

Here you will find toll free numbers for self-help , financial help , disability help and many other outreach type numbers.

N C C A R N.This site was created to help those who cannot find or access Medical Information on their Medical condition via Library or the Internet. Often this is because of an inability to afford the time it would take to do the researching, an inability to understand what they have read due to the complexity of medical terminology, or because of the time MDs do not take to explain a patient's condition in terms they can  understand. We have on staff state of the art practicing physicians, as well as our nurses that will take the time to explain to you and try to help answer your questions.

"We Do The Searching For You"

MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP.NET will take the time to look up medical information via patient's request and present it to the patient in a format that is as easy as possible to understand. MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP. NET also provides a nurse or doctor to help explain the medical information to the patient.  If we cannot find a specific information request, we will point them in the right direction to help them find it, and be there to help explain the information once it is found!    MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP. NET are a combined research guide and medical database whose function is to help patients find and understand medical information along with giving them the option of talking with a medical professional if needed. We presently have 4 nurses and 2 doctors along with thousands of medical links to almost any condition or disease. We also have hundreds of medical pictures and videos, as well as a medical library and state of the art teleconferencing equipment to help patients get their medical questions answered and their information needs met. MED-HELP.COM & MED-HELP. NET does not take the place, or intend to take the place of your doctors opinion. If an opinion is asked for, it will be given with extreme precision and with the most current information and experience available. All medical advice is medically correct and sound.

These pages were created and are maintained solely by Jim Lubin, who is a C2 quadriplegic, completely paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator to breathe, using an keyboard/mouse emulator with a sip and puff switch to type morse codes.

I need to re-access what I think I can and cannot do. This man is an inspiration.

This is the learning disabilities site. It is for you to use as a parent of a child with learning disabilties , as well as for your use if you have learning disabilities. The site seems fairly comprehensive. They have updated news about learning disabilites and there is a page for research.

"Learning Disabilities Association of America
If you are a parent or teacher of a child with a learning disability – or have learning disabilities yourself - you are not alone. Typical learning difficulties include dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia – often complicated by associated disorders such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

The good news is that the Learning Disabilities Association of America is here to help.

Since 1963, LDA has provided support to people with learning disabilities, their parents, teachers and other professionals. At the national, state and local levels, LDA provides cutting edge information on learning disabilities, practical solutions, and a comprehensive network of resources. These services make the Learning Disabilities Association of America the leading resource for information on learning disabilities.

LDA believes that every person with learning disabilities can be successful at school, at work, in relationships, and in the community -- given the right opportunities. Join LDA in creating those opportunities."

This page is for disability information for infants through youth or young adulthood. Rather than having all the information on their site , they are kind of a hub for information . They direct you to places where you can get the specific help you need. They also have information for teachers and those who wish to access the needs of children. Being a dissemination site , the research area is substansive.

Welcome to NICHCY and a wealth of information on disabilities!

NICHCY stands for the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities. We serve the nation as a central source of information on:

research-based information on effective educational practices.
Feel free to communicate with us in English or Spanish. We're here, we're listening, and it would be our pleasure to help you. In the meantime, we invite you to explore our Web site and make full use of all that we offer here.

As a Research Assistant Professor in the International Center for Disability Information at West Virginia University, he published scholarly research articles and book chapters. This is something that I found while searching for my living on a low income page. There are many of us who use the computer while being bed ridden . My guess is that this is much cheaper than buying a table from a medical supply store.
